Duh of the day

A Yahoo! news headline this morning:

"Errors are likely to occur when doctors are overworked."

  1. That must apply to pretty much everyone.

  2. Except writers. :)

"Fatigue makes cowards of us all."

    (Vince Lombardi)(Or George Patton)

Tell me who Vince Lombardi was without googling.

  3. A football coach. I didn't google. True. :) :)

I'm not sure that I entirely agree with that particular quote.

  4. Good for you! (I believe you, too.)

Then you have never played football or been shot at for several days in a row. It makes you want to give up. Giving up is cowardly. It is the last few minutes of a hard game that tells you what you are made up of, life-wise. That is the whole point of physically demanding team sports, not the score. (Lombardi would disagree with that last of course.)

His most famous quote was, "Winning isn't everything. It's the ONLY thing."

    Sigh.

  5. I agree I have been in neither situation and fatigue CAN make cowards of us. It depends on what type of fatigue though, and not necessarily all. The original quote is to much of a sweeping generalisation. It needs context.

  6. I see. Well, the next time you are utterly fatigued - for whatever reason, we'll let you get into a fight. I want to watch. :)
