Such a happy song. I really think it is older than 1952, but what do I know? Seems like it should be a depression-era song. Perhaps they weren't that happy during the depression. :)
You're right. All the songs from "Singin' in the Rain" had been previously written and recorded. The movie producers wanted a vehicle for Gene Kelly so they threw in all the songs and created a story around them. It's one of our favorite movies.
