Happy Groundhog Day

May your shadow not be seen today. Or his. Or whatever.

  2. Yes, another Groundhog Day has arrived. They are going by faster and faster. Don't you wish you were in Punxsutawney this morning?

  3. Even the waves in the sea have shadows this morning. :(

  4. Too late - though if the type of winter that we've had thus far keeps up for six weeks I won't be complaining too loudly!

  5. @A. - So it is nice and sunny there? But I don't think you have any groundhogs anyway. :)

    @Adullamite - A prelude to the big football world championship on Sunday in Indy.

    @Linda - That's for sure. I can't believe what a nice January we've had. :)

  8. Apparently we used hedgehogs as predictors way back when. And the early european settlers forgot to take hedgehogs with them, so had to give those ugly things the job.
    A hedgehog venturing out yesterday would have seen his shadow in the bright sunlight, but would have frozen his nuts off in the minus temperatures. Today he'd have to dig his way out through the snow.

  12. To those of you who may be confusing Groundhog Day with a B movie of the same name:

    Groundhog Day is when a rodent comes out of his hole and if he sees his shadow, scurries back down in his hole and we will have 6 more weeks of winter -- it is NOT when a rude newsman is supernaturally made to relive one day in his life over and over again until he corrects the defects in his personality. :)

  13. Of course, I am the cause of the confusion by posting a picture from the movie, having already used a picture of a fat groundhog a couple years ago.

  14. I'm really hoping that tomorrow things might be different... In fact, I might just shoot the groundhog...
