Oh, those darned politicians!

Bush haters were pretty uncompromising about calling the former president a liar. Every little misjudgment or miscalculation or any act based on the advice of others was quickly called a Bush lie.

Because they cut Bush no slack or ever gave him the benefit of the doubt, I'm sure they won't mind if Obama is treated with the same respect they showed Bush.

Obama is a liar.

It would be hard to count the times when he stated in campaign speeches: "On my first day in office, I will call in the Joint Chiefs of Staff and order a close to the Iraq war."

Many people voted for Obama on that premise. Maybe enough to get him elected.

Today was his first day in office. He didn't call in the Joint Chiefs of Staff and order an end to the Iraq War.

Therefore, using the the same standard as the Bush haters use, Obama is a liar.

  1. Yes, of course. I can't think of any that don't lie. Most politicians, not just presidents. I just thought it was almost funny that all I have heard for the last 8 years is "Bush lie lie lie lie.." And I'm sure he did. But so does the new guy. I didn't vote for any of them, so I should keep my mouth shut. Thanks for stopping by. :)

  2. I think you should give Obama and Biden a chance. It has only been a week.

  3. A lie is a lie, if he did not do what he said he would...he lied! How can he be given a week to do what he said he would do on the first day?

  4. I'm not surprised. I did vote for him, but I never expected him to be able to do all the things he said, especially the first day/first week/first month stuff. He's going to be so busy cleaning up the mess that the stuff he wanted to do may never happen. I wouldn't be in his place for anything.
I never cared about Bush being a liar. As someone else said, all politicians lie - it's part of the system. But I did care about his complete and total indifference to and contempt for the American people.

  5. @Frostygirl - Well, I was mostly being tongue-in-cheek because of the high truth standards they always seemed to set for Bush. I will give Obama a while longer. Sometimes you lose your head in the heat of a campaign and make some pretty rash promises. He'll be ok, I think. I voted for the Green lady on the ballot. So I am sort of on the sidelines. I am not much on any politician of any stripe, truth be told. :)

  6. @Linda - Yes. It wasn't so much that he didn't care or didn't try or lied or didn't lie as it was he seemed so out of touch with the people. Especially at the end. His father was like that too and didn't get re-elected. The elder Bush didn't seem to care about the unemployed. Then he went into a supermarket and didn't know what a scanner was. Very out of touch with the common man. You probably remember that. I don't know if I agree that the younger Bush was intentionally indifferent or contemptuous - I think he was just a dork who was out of touch. I may be wrong. Never voted for Bush or Gore or Kerry either. I always pick somebody I really want to win. Heh. But they never do....
