Rot in hell, asshole

Only a few months after the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York and Virginia, a serial killer terrified the DC area by committing random sniper killings on his fellow Americans. Innocent people doing innocent things - at gas stations, shopping mall parking lots, outside restaurants and schools, even on a golf course - were gunned down by the sniper, 10 people in all and more suspected in other areas.

It was later discovered the culprit was one John Allen Muhammad and his teen-aged accomplice, Lee Boyd Malvo.

A few hours ago, the Commonwealth of Virginia executed Muhammad. Good fucking riddance.

  2. I kinda think lethal injection is far too kind a final solution for this guy.
And I think his teenage sidekick should join him.

I note that the Fort Hood shooter is being referred to as "the suspect"....
Yes, I know, innocent until proven guilty, etc. But if he was clearly identified as being the shooter, by numerous persons who knew him, then "suspect"is a pretty stupid term to use.

My sentence to him? ship him out to the combat zone, no body armour, and strap him to the outside of an armoured vehicle. Let him enjoy allah the all-merciful's protection. And the legendary hospitality of the Afghanis toward foreigners.

"When you're wounded and left on Afghanistan's plains,
And the women come out to cut up what remains,
Jest roll to your rifle and blow out your brains
An' go to your Gawd like a soldier."

Only, in his case, he wouldn't have a rifle.

  3. @Stephanie B - I think it is the shortest comment. But pithy.

@Soubriquet - Virginia is one of those states who give the condemned a choice of how he wants to be offed. In the case of Virginia, it is lethal injection or electrocution. Since the dork was unresponsive to the question, they chose for him. I think they chose poorly. Ol' Sparky would have gotten a rise out of him. so to speak. And maybe even his stupid unresponsive face would have lit up a bit. Ah, well. The guy on the golf course where Muhammad stood and watched take his last breath - the guy's daughter was an official witness to the execution and watched her father's killer take his last breath too. Sort of poetic in a kind of weird Shakespearean way.

As for the Ft. Hood Jihadist, they are finally starting to call it what it is. I don't know about Afghan women, though. In the news only an hour ago, the army announced it will seek the death penalty for Hasan in his court martial. But right now they are still struggling to save his life so they can kill him. That one, I think, still means a bullet behind the ear, or the like (without a choice.) And so it goes. Will it ever stop?

Incidentally, do you know the last time the U.S. Army executed a soldier? Long time ago. Back at the end of WWII if I am not mistaken. Saw a movie about it once. (A firing squad.) Usually deserters in the face of the enemy are simply shot on the spot by their squad commanders, or used to be, so you don't really hear that much about it. The offender is simply shown as a battle casualty.

  4. I feel torn between the head which says take their life before others suffer .. these killers deserve punishment and by that not an easy life in prison but my heart cannot easily rest with capital punishment... I don't know that I will ever be able be able to fully support either option entirely.

  5. I have a question to our lawmakers. I agree what this man did was horrible and that people were doing nothing wrong, just going about their day, but why does this call for the death penalty and the man arrested for the sexual molestation and death of a ten month old baby girl not get the death penalty? Something here just seems so wrong.
